BLANTYRE
The building site for this custom home was particularly problematic. With only a three foot setback from the two neighbouring houses, and the need to dig down twelve feet for a new foundation in sandy soil, the engineers required extensive shoring to prevent the neighbours’ houses from tumbling into our excavation. We drove massive steel I-beams into the ground and spanned them with huge timbers, allowing us to dig out the foundation safely. Once we’d completed the foundation, construction began using a steel skeleton to create uninterrupted open spaces from front to back. High-end finishes and finely crafted millwork lend a quiet elegance to this family home.
